Angel Pen

Angel Pen is a newsletter I started in 2021. It updates irregularly and is basically a functional substitute for a blog, an expansive space on the net where I can share drawings; original interviews; thoughts on music, books, films, online life, millennial nostalgia; archived radio shows, track IDs, playlists; and whatever else I’m loving or has caught my interest that I am compelled to share with you!

You can read it for free here.

Here are some interviews I conducted that I am proud of:

A Gentle Reminder: Greetings from The Gentle People

Negotiating Nostalgia with CFCF

Rare Charm

Rare Charm is a treasure box of prismatic sounds with delightfully odd allure across genre, source material, and mood. Each session is a one to two-hour-long deep dive exploring a unique theme or concept. Get lost in the sonic curio cabinet every last Wednesday of the month on particle.fm at 8pm PT.

Below are a few of my favorite mixes.

A mix made for Valentine’s Day incorporating listener-submitted voicemail confessions of love, longing, and heartbreak woven between songs that skitter, distort, or otherwise sound like they’re deteriorating, about to detonate, or struggling to reconstitute amidst a storm of data.

Mediated through the lens of electronica characterized by elevator music pastiche, in this broadcast you can expect the far-out synthesized hallmarks of space-age bachelor pad pop, along with caressing “ba-ba-ba” vocals, aircraft cabin & airport ambience sampling, and the smooth sensuality and saudade of bossa nova—keeping things light and airy, wistful but not without a sense of humor. Gentle skies and Dodo Airlines vibes.

A mix done in collaboration with Possessed Fanzine for Slackers and Haters. A tribute to late ‘90s-early 2000s SoCal alternative rock radio while also an homage to the soundtracks of teen comedies of the same era. A two-hour blend of primo slacker jams infused with Gen X irony and attitude across indie pop, shoegaze, post-grunge, fun samples, and more.
